Synopsis – Pending…
Change Company –
If you would like to search for another company by name quickly, but do not
want to return to the search pages, simply type the company’s name or ticker
symbol into the text box. A window will
automatically display as you type to show you the matches available for the
letters or names you type. Click on a
specific company to go directly to that company’s page.
Recent Companies – Click on the drop down menu to access a list of recently viewed
companies listed by their ticker symbols and exchanges. Click on any of the names in the list to
quickly return to that company’s page.
Competitors
This tab shows a list of
industry competitors both US and Global.
- Competitor
List
By default the list of US
competitors will always be displayed first. You can show global competitors by
clicking the Global link at the top of the page.
- The competitor list may be customized and organized
into ascending or descending order by any of the data items in the
list. By default, competitors are
listed in order from highest to lowest revenues.
- To access the Company Details for a specific company
in the competitor list, click the company’s name.
- Add
a Company or Competitor to the List – If
you would like to search for another company by name and add it to the
competitor list, simply type the company’s name or ticker symbol into
the text box. A window will
automatically display as you type to show you the matches available for
the letters or names you type. Click on a specific company and click Add to add it to the list.
- Remove
a Competitor – Click the X beside any
company name to delete that competitor from your competitor list.
- Create
a Competitor List Report – Click
the link to create a competitor report.
You will be directed to a page that looks much like the “My
Mergent Tools: Company Analysis List” page.
- My
Mergent Tools: Competitor List Page – You will notice upon opening the page that there are
4 large list boxes on the page. The
top two boxes are your full Competitor List as well as a Comparison
List. The bottom two boxes allow
you to select reporting items and the subsequent list of those items
you select as desired when creating your comparison report.
- Company
Comparison List – Add
items from your Competitor List to the Comparison List for creating
Comparison Reports.
- Click on a company name
and click the > to add a single company to the list.
- When you click a company
name in the list, it will remain selected until you click it again to
deselect it. This will allow
you to select multiple companies at one time and add more than one to
your list with one step. Once
you have all the desired companies selected, click > to add them
to the Comparison List.
- Repeat the above process
with the companies in your Comparison List if you wish to remove
unwanted items accidentally added to the list by this time using the
< button.
- Select
Data Items List - Click
the next the category of interest
(Company Details, Pricing Information, Company Financials, Executives
and News) to expand downward a list of sub-categories.
- Select a sub-category item
and click the > button
to add the item to the Report
Items list box.
- You can select more than
one item at a time by clicking on multiple data points before
clicking the > button. Once you have all the items of
interest, then click >
and the batch items will add to your Report Items list box for you to organize.
- Repeat the above steps for
any other item you wish to add to the report.
- To add all items available
in the Select Data Items List, click the >> button.
- Report
Items List - To remove an item from a
report, select it in the Report
Items list box and choose the < button.
- Remove all items from the
Report Items List by clicking the << button.
- Select a format from the Select a Format drop-down menu.
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Adobe Acrobat Reader
- HTML
- When ready, choose Create a Multiple Competitor Report
to start the report generation process.
This will display a report in a window. A discussion of the features
available in this window is given below.
- Viewing
the Report - The following features are
available in Multiple Company Report window:
- The report can be printed
using the Print button within the HTML report or the print
feature in Word, Excel, or Acrobat Reader.
- When finished, choose the Close
button to remove the Report Window.
- Add
all Companies to Company Analysis List – Click the link on the top right of the page to add
all companies in the competitor list to the Company Analysis List which
can be accessed via your My Mergent Tools function.
- Competitor
News
The two most recent news
stories are shown for each company in your list. Each headline is a link
to the full text of the story, supplied by the Inlumen news service.
o Click a headline of
interest. You will be redirected to that
story’s page with a summary explanation of the story.
§ Click >Full
Story to read the full article.
§ Click >Back to
Previous Page to return to the previous headlines list.
At the right of each
page is the My Mergent Tools function. This enables you to add the
currently selected company to the Company Analysis List or add executives to
your Executive List. From the My Mergent Tools buttons you may also access the
Company and Executive Alerts options.
See My Mergent Tools for more details of these. Where appropriate, each page also features a
link which will allow you to download the data available on that page into a
Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or opens a printer friendly page so that you may
print the page directly.
